Contemporary Drawing: Gordon Highlanders Series
In the first of the 2019 Gordon Highlanders Series, we welcome Rosemary Taylor who will be leading a Contemporary Drawing class in the art room of the museum.
This workshop is for anyone interested in experimenting with materials and techniques. Drawing is at the heart of all art practice and this workshop aims to reinforce the importance of this through producing imaginative still life studies.
Participants will look at various 20th & 21st century contemporary artists for an insight into how they interpret still life. We will pay attention to scale, composition, positive and negative space, line and tone, pattern and texture, colour permutations, perspective, narrative and translation of a still life image.
Bring as many drawing materials as you have eg charcoal, conte pencil, oil pastels, pencil, graphite sticks, drawing pens etc and various papers will be provided.
This class is suitable for all levels with less experienced students learning new techniques and the more experienced gaining from taking a new perspective on this subject.
Teas, coffee and biscuits will be provided free of charge as usual and lunch can be bought from the Duchess Jean Tearoom at the museum or you can bring along a packed lunch.
Cost £50
